Real Korean conversations
Lingrow gives you 340+ conversation scenarios in Korean at beginner, intermediate and advanced difficulty. You order a convenience store lunch, ask for a restaurant recommendation, get a haircut, navigate the Seoul metro, settle the office lunch decision and take a date to a cafe. The AI partner listens, replies in Korean and adapts to your level, so a beginner and an advanced learner can practise the same situation.
Feedback while you speak
Lingrow corrects you in the moment and then gives you a written summary of every conversation. The summary covers grammar, vocabulary, fluency and pronunciation, with specific advice on what to fix next. For Korean that means particles, sentence endings and the politeness levels, so you find out whether 존댓말 and 반말 came out where they should have. Conversation scores track whether you are improving.
A complete Hangeul course
Nine lessons take you through all 40 letters: 14 basic consonants, 5 double consonants, 10 basic vowels and 11 compound vowels, then syllable blocks and batchim. Every letter has Korean audio and an animated stroke-order demo you trace. You write letters from memory and handwriting recognition checks them. Spaced repetition tracks a strength for each of the 40 letters, and a placement test skips the ones you already know.
Pronunciation rated letter by letter
Lingrow rates how you pronounce individual letters and syllables, not just whole words. It judges the vowels and the difference between plain and aspirated consonants, and a contrast drill has you say 가, 카 and 까 in a row and checks that the three actually sound different. This matters because 불 means fire, 풀 means grass and 뿔 means horn. It is the only app we know of that rates pronunciation at the individual-letter level.
Learn in your own language
You don't have to learn through English. Lingrow explains, corrects and translates in any of 33 languages, from Arabic and Hindi to Polish and Vietnamese. You pick your language when you sign up and can change it later in settings. Your corrections, your hints and your end-of-conversation feedback all arrive in the language you actually think in. The tap-a-word dictionary, the flashcards and the guided lessons are in English.
Guided Korean lessons
123 guided lessons teach the Korean words, phrases and grammar you need and then put them straight into a conversation, so you use what you just learned instead of forgetting it. Lessons are matched to your level and goals. Alongside them sit 2,000+ curated flashcards running from the most common Korean words up to exam-level vocabulary, and you can save any word from a conversation into your own deck.
Free Korean tools on the web
You don't need the app to start. Lingrow has ten free Korean tools on this site, including an interactive Hangeul chart, a complete written Hangeul guide, a Korean level test, a TOPIK 1 mock test, a dictionary, a verb conjugator, a keyboard and a romanisation converter. Most people can read Hangeul after an afternoon with the chart and the guide.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Lingrow good for Korean beginners?
- Yes. Korean is Lingrow's most developed language and the app starts from zero. The Hangeul course teaches you to read first, guided lessons give you words and grammar, and scenarios start at beginner difficulty where the AI partner speaks slowly and simply. You never need to be able to read Korean before you begin.
- Does Lingrow teach Hangeul?
- Yes. Nine lessons cover all 40 letters, syllable blocks and batchim, with Korean audio and stroke-order demos for every letter. You write letters from memory with handwriting recognition checking them, spaced repetition brings back the ones fading, and a placement test skips letters you already know if you have studied before.
- How does the Korean pronunciation feedback work?
- You say a letter or a syllable and Lingrow rates whether you produced that Korean sound. It judges the vowels and the plain versus aspirated consonant difference, and a contrast drill checks that your 가, 카 and 까 come out different from each other. In conversations, feedback covers pronunciation alongside grammar and vocabulary.
- Can I use Lingrow if English isn't my first language?
- Yes. Lingrow supports 33 languages for explanations and feedback, so you can learn through Arabic, Hindi, Polish, Vietnamese, Russian, Thai and 27 others instead of English. You choose your language when you sign up and can change it in settings. The tap-a-word dictionary, flashcards and guided lessons are still in English.
- How much does Lingrow cost and is there a free trial?
- Lingrow is a subscription and it starts with a free trial, so you can try the conversations and the Hangeul course before paying. Prices vary by country, so check the App Store for yours. The Hangeul chart, the written Hangeul guide and the other Korean tools on this website are free and need no account.
- Can Lingrow replace a Korean tutor?
- For daily speaking practice, yes, and at a fraction of the cost per hour. Lingrow is available at any hour, never judges you and repeats a situation as often as you like. A tutor is still worth adding, if you can afford one, for exam coaching, writing correction and someone holding you to an appointment.
